Six Reasons to Choose Mainspring Loft
Everything in Writing
You receive a written service record with every job. No verbal summaries, no assumptions — a document that travels with the watch from this point forward.
Experienced Hands
Our head watchmaker brings over fifteen years of work on mechanical and automatic movements, including training at the craft's source in Switzerland.
No-Pressure Findings
After a Quick Check, the notes are yours to keep whether you proceed with further work or not. There's no obligation attached to any inspection.
Stated Prices
Each service tier has a published price. The figure agreed at acceptance is what you pay at collection. No additions without prior discussion.
Heritage Awareness
Older and inherited watches are handled with an understanding of what they are. Refinishing, if considered, is discussed first. Parts are sourced with the character of the piece in mind.
Measured Workload
We accept a limited number of pieces at one time. This means the work on your watch receives proper attention — not bench time squeezed between a backlog.

Professional Expertise
Watchmaking is a craft with a long training curve. Our head watchmaker completed formal training in Thailand before going on to study movement servicing abroad, and has since worked on a wide range of calibres — from common Swiss movements to less well-known pieces made for the Southeast Asian market.
This breadth matters when a customer brings in something that doesn't fit neatly into a standard service path. We can make an informed assessment, explain the options clearly, and recommend only what genuinely makes sense for the piece.
- Formal watchmaking training
- 15+ years of movement work
- Experience with Swiss and Asian market calibres
- Familiar with older, out-of-production movements
- Honest about the limits of what's achievable
- Timing machine readings before and after service
- Ultrasonic cleaning equipment for components
- Proper watchmaker-grade lubricants
- Documented intake and return process
- Structured service notes in written form
Tools & Process
A watch repair is only as good as the process that surrounds it. At Mainspring Loft, intake is handled carefully: the piece is tagged, assessed, and documented before it reaches the bench. Cleaning uses proper watchmaking equipment rather than improvised approaches.
The timing machine readings we take before and after a service are not decorative — they're the clearest way of demonstrating what the service actually achieved. Owners who have had watches serviced elsewhere without receiving this kind of data often find it a meaningful change.
Communication Style
Watch repair can be an opaque experience. A piece goes in, some time passes, a price is quoted, the watch comes back. What actually happened in between is often unclear. Mainspring Loft works differently: findings are shared, options are explained, and no work proceeds without the owner's understanding.
This doesn't mean lengthy conversations for every simple job. For a Quick Check, the findings note is clear and brief. For a heritage overhaul, the communication is more detailed — but it's always written down and always yours to keep.
- Written findings after every inspection
- No work proceeds without owner agreement
- Service records returned with the watch
- Progress updates on heritage overhauls
- Enquiries answered in plain language

— What Sets Us Apart —
Distinctive Features
The Service Record Model
Every service produces a written note that becomes part of the watch's ongoing record. Few repair workshops operate this way as standard. For owners who care about provenance, this matters.
Capped Intake Policy
We don't accept more work than we can handle well. If we're at capacity when you enquire, we'll say so and let you decide whether to wait. A watch brought in should receive proper attention, not be shelved.
Inspection Before Commitment
A Quick Service Check is available as a standalone service with no obligation to proceed further. You receive written findings whether or not you go on to book a cleaning or overhaul.
Asian Market Familiarity
Bangkok has a particular history with certain watch brands and models. Our familiarity with pieces common in the Thai market — including vintage and second-hand acquisitions — means we encounter fewer surprises.
